Join curator of collections Darren Brown to walk the newly-redesigned Privateer Trail, which traces Beverly's Revolutionary era maritime history.The tour will discuss the evolution of the port of Beverly from fishing community,to a Revolutionary War hub of privateering and naval operations to a departure point for trade in the Far East.  The homes and businesses of many of the most prominent maritime figures still stand throughout the historic Fish Flake Hill neighborhood, including those of privateer Hugh Hill, Josiah Batchelder, the first inspector of the joint port of Beverly and Salem, and William Bartlett, George Washington's naval agent. Total distance about 1.5 miles.
