Explore Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site, where General Anthony Wayne's corps of Continental Light Infantry launched a daring midnight assault on the British, seized the fortifications and took the British garrison as prisoner on July 16, 1779.  Discover the Hudson River's oldest lighthouse, which was built in 1826 and guided vessels for nearly 100 years.

Stony Point Battlefield offers a spectacular view of the Hudson River.  From April through October visitors enjoy artillery demonstrations, bird walks, Lighthouse Days, military encampment re-enacting, historic walking tours, special lectures, and museum exhibits.  See our website for current hours and special event information.  Parking is always FREE.  www.palisadesparksconservancy.org

Winter Hours:  Grounds are open Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Closed weekends.

HOURS AND ACTIVITIES (April through October)
Museum open: 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, 12:00 Noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
Closed Mondays and Tuesdays, except for these Monday holidays – Memorial Day, Labor Day

Soldier’s Camp open: The 18th century living history military history camp is open Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., staffing and weather permitting. 

Artillery drills:  An artillery demonstration and firing of the site’s 6 pounder cannon is presented on Saturdays and Sundays at 3:00 p.m., weather and staffing permitting.

Blacksmiths Forge: Stony Point Battlefields resident blacksmiths are often found in the Soldier’s Camp Wednesday    through Sunday, but their schedule varies.  Visit the forge for a discussion of military smithing and see how new items and repairs are made for the camp.

Grounds open:  Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m.  The site is closed and gate is locked at 5:00 p.m. daily.  

Picnic tables: Tables are available near the parking lot and in the picnic pavilion for our daily visitors.  Large groups (15 or more) require advance reservation and a permit, for which there is a fee.  Please call site the site office for reservations at least two weeks in advance.

TOURS
Battlefield Tours: Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. a member of the staff will conduct a one hour walking tour of the Battlefield.  Tour departs from museum patio, weather and staffing permitting.  Free tour but donations are appreciated.

Lighthouse Tours: On most first and third Saturday of the month, at 1:00 p.m., there will be a lighthouse tour offered
by advance reservation, weather permitting.  Children must be 6 years, or older, to climb the lighthouse ladders.  Tour limited to 15 people.  Fee of $3.00 per person.

Group Tours: Organized group tours (all school, scout, organizations, and families larger than 10 people) offered Wednesday through Sunday, are by advance reservation only, and limited to availability of staff and weather.  Please call the site office three weeks in advance to book a tour of the Battlefield and/or the Lighthouse.  Fee of $3.00 per person.
