The right to vote is at the heart of a healthy democracy, and Massachusetts was at the center of the national struggle for woman suffrage. Author Barbara Berenson discusses the state’s leading role, including the first National Woman’s Rights Convention in Worcester and the Boston-based American Woman Suffrage Association, which led campaigns across the country and laid the foundation for future generations. Attendees will also learn about local organizations and activism by Dedham citizens ⸻ both for and against the movement.
