Tour of the Shirley Shaker Village

The Shirley Historical Society runs tours of the Shirley Shaker Village in October, the last one is Oct 25.  The Shirley Shaker Village closed in 1908 and it was sold to the state who used it for an industrial school for boys, State Police Barracks and currently it is MCI Shirley.  The only way to see the buildings is on a guided tour with a historian from the Shirley Historical Society and since it is part of the prison grounds and a corrections officer will be with you-safest tour you will ever take. It is well worth seeing and supporting the society and the hopeful restoration of more buildings.    Info online is limited: http://www.shirleyhistory.org/UpcomingEvents.html  Sunday October 25th - Guided Tour of Shaker Village, 12:30 pm, $15, Reservations Required, mail@shirleyhistory.org
