Are you a fan of the television show "Forged in Fire" or the Minecraft video game?  Storrowton Village Museum will host a Blacksmith Collective on May 12, 2018.  The event offers visitors an interactive look at the trade and artistry of blacksmithing in New England from the 17th to the 21st century with demonstrations in the busy Clark Blacksmith Shop and on the Village green.

You will be able to talk with smiths about their tools, techniques and traditions as they work at their forges.  The event is suitable for all ages - adults will get a practical view of the art and craftsmanship of the trade while the children's activity area provides a hands-on look at the tools and toys made by blacksmiths, as well as a clay molding activity that teaches the science behind molding metal.

Special guests include the 3rd Massachusetts George Washington Continental Army Unit reenactment group leading demonstrations and discussions on the role of blacksmithing during the American Revolution.

Visitors can purchase tickets for the Hammer and Anvil raffle, with 100% of proceeds to benefit Storrowon's educational programs; winners must be present to receive prizes that will be drawn hourly.  The Shops at Storrowton will be open and smiths will offer their own handmade items for sale.

Storrowton Tavern will offer $12 boxed lunches as a grab-and-go option as well as regular meal service. Boxed lunches will include a sandwich, chips, fresh fruit, homemade cookies, a granola bar, and condiments.

The Blacksmith Collective is open to the public and runs from 11am to 4pm.  Tickets are $8 in advance through storrowtonvillage.com (through May 11)  and $10 on the day of the event.
