Smithfield: Isle of Wight Museum and St. Luke's Church

Our visit to Smithfield will begin at the Isle of Wight Museum where we will experience exhibits interpreting local history from pre-historic times to the present. Here we can shop in the country store and see the museum’s most notable artifact- the world’s oldest, edible cured ham. Our step on guide will then take us to historic St. Luke’s Church. Circa 1632, it is the oldest existing church of English Foundation in America. Lunch will be at the Smithfield Inn which has been operating as a restaurant since 1752.

We have made special arrangements to visit the Lewis Little Car Museum in Smithfield. This private museum is a 9,000-square-foot treasure trove of lustrous hotrods, massive gangster cars and boat-length family cars. On our way back to Richmond we will stop off in Charles City County to tour Cary Hill a private home that was built in 1741 and has been artfully restored.
