While the Thanksgiving holiday brings to mind stories of Native people in early New England, we know that Native people continue to survive and thrive far beyond this early period of contact. Narragansett descendant Jennifer Lee will talk about Native history and culture while demonstrating traditional bark-basket-making technology.

Season of Thanks: Society of the 17th Century

Meet the Society of the 17th Century, a group of reenactors who will bring our historic Hall Tavern building to life with an incredible array of period arts, crafts and trades. See redware pottery, spinning, lace making, herbal lore, quill pen writing, wood carving, basket making, and arms and armor. Skilled re-enactors invite hands-on involvement when appropriate. Also enjoy open hearth cooking demonstrations and learn about natural dyes.

By Car
From the East
Worcester, MA (1 hour)/Boston, MA (approximately 2 hours):
Take MassPike/I-90 West to exit 4, then take I-91 North to Exit 24. At the end of the ramp, bear right onto Routes 5&10 North. Follow “Historic Deerfield” signs approximately 6 miles.

From the South
Springfield, MA (30 minutes)/Hartford, CT (1 hour)/New York City, NY (4 hours):
Take I-91 North to Exit 24 in Massachusetts. At the end of the ramp, bear right onto Routes 5&10 North. Follow “Historic Deerfield” signs approximately 6 miles.

From the North
Brattleboro, VT (30 minutes)/Keene, NH (1 hour)/ Montreal, Quebec, CANADA (6 hours):
Take I-91 South to Exit 25 in Massachusetts. At the end of the ramp, bear left onto Rte. 116. At the first light, bear left onto Routes 5&10 North. Follow “Historic Deerfield” signs approximately 5 miles.

From the West
The Berkshires (1 hour)/Albany, NY (2 hours):
Take MassPike/I-90 East to exit 4, then take I-91 North to Exit 24. At the end of the ramp, bear right onto Routes 5&10 North. Follow “Historic Deerfield” signs approximately 6 miles.

Parking: The main parking area is located behind the Visitor Center at Hall Tavern with designated spaces for handicapped parking, recreational vehicles and tour buses.
By Air

The nearest airports are Bradley Airport (BDL) just outside Hartford, Connecticut, and Logan Airport (BOS) in Boston, Massachusetts.

By Train

The nearest train stations are in Amherst, MA, or Springfield, MA. For information, contact Amtrak.

By Bus

Bus service is available to Greenfield, MA, which is just four miles north of Historic Deerfield. From there, taxi service is available.
