Saltworks of Dennis and Brewster

Learn about Cape Cod’s saltworks with Bob Kelley, Yarmouth Historical Commissioner and President of the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth. Bob has tracked the origins of salt production by solar evaporation in East Yarmouth and East Dennis. He also performed a diligent deed search in Brewster and uncovered fifty salt manufacturers in seventy- five Town of Brewster Saltworks-related deeds from 1795 to the mid-1850s, including fifteen deeds related to ownership and salt manufacturing on Wing Island.
