Open Spaces, Weathered Faces is an exhibit featuring a selection of photographs from the Ohio Historical Society's Joe Munroe Archives. Munroe grew up in urban Detroit, but when he took a job at Cincinnati-based Farm Quarterly magazine, agriculture and rural life became major themes for his images, which capture the dramatic impact of technology on farm life from the 1940s through the 1970s. From the vast fields of California’s central valley to the family-operated dairy farms of the Midwest, Munroe documented the changing size and shape of American farms.
