New Bedford 21st Annual Holiday House Tour
The New Bedford Preservation Society will present two self-guided tours on 12/8 (4-8 pm) & 12/9 (1-5 pm), featuring the Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum along with beautifully restored 19th century residences, all decked out for the holidays. Both tours start at the Wamsutta Club, 427 County St., where an elegant pre-tour brunch ($17) will be held on Sunday from 11-1 p.m., along with a holiday raffle & silent auction of beautiful gifts, art, antiques & handcrafted items. Visit the website for video of previous tours.
Pre-tour brunch reservations (recommended but not required) can be made by calling the club at 508.997.7431. Advance, discounted tour tickets will go on sale mid-November. All proceeds will benefit the work of the society in its efforts to maintain and promote historic preservation in New Bedford. To those ends, the Society has undertaken several major projects including historical building markers, bi-annual historic house tours, historical cemetery tours, summer walking tours, a tree-planting program (Re-Leaf), the publication of self-guided walking tour brochures, trolley tours, lectures, and other efforts.
