In 1864 federal armies pushed slowly forward on multiple fronts while a huge mounted expedition swept into the Dakota Territory. Minnesota remained a garrisoned state as its expanding population faced the challenges of full mobilization for war. This symposium brings together speakers from around the region to discuss this pivotal year in American history.

The symposium is free, but advanced registration is strongly recommended. A buffet lunch will be available for $15 for the first 100 paid reservations. For more information and to register download the registration form from the Twin Cities Civil War Roundatable website.

The annual Minnesota Civil War Symposium is sponsored by the Twin Cities, Rochester, Cannon Valley, St. Croix Valley, Central Minnesota, and Hiawatha Valley Civil War Roundtables in partnership with the Minnesota Historical Society and Minnesota Civil War Commemorative Task Force.
