Join us on Monday, July 20 at 11 a.m. for a live program with our very own Public Historian, Marc Nucup! Marc will give a presentation that examines US Navy ships that were named to honor individuals who fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima. Viewers are welcome to send comments or questions during the presentation.

About this presentation: The US Navy has long had a tradition of naming its vessels after significant or heroic people from US history. In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima, Marc will briefly examine the Navy ships that honor individuals associated with the February 1945 invasion. The Battle of Iwo Jima was a major battle between the US and Japan during World War II, resulting in a US victory but at a significant cost of lives.
