Archaeologist Neill De Paoli leads a lively tour of Hamilton House’s grounds, focusing on the landscape as it was in Hamilton’s day. Using research based on historic maps, archaeological evidence, and similar sites in the region, Dr. De Paoli describes an eighteenth-century working landscape very different from the tranquil gardens and woods we see today. Retrace Hamilton’s footsteps as you explore evidence of wharf structures, the former town landing, and the site of a colonial shipyard. Please note, the tour involves prolonged standing and walking on uneven ground.
