GHS to Present Bell and Hawes Awards During Ceremony at the University of Georgia

On Thursday, August 29th, GHS President, Dr. W. Todd Groce will be on hand to present awards for two recent books about Georgia history to the University of Georgia Press and the authors of two distinguished books.  Drew A. Swanson and the University of Georgia Press will receive the Malcolm Bell, Jr., and Muriel Barrow Bell Award for Mr. Swanson's book Remaking Wormsloe Plantation: The Environmental History of a Lowcountry Landscape.  Authors Ren and Helen Davis along with the University of Georgia Press, will be awarded the Lilla M. Hawes Award for the Davis's book Atlanta's Oakland Cemetery: An Illustrated History and Guide.
