Framingham’s Daring Dozen

    Improve listing Presented by

In 2003, former Town Historian Steve Herring created a list of Framingham women whom he felt should be recognized as part of a hypothetical Framingham Women’s Memorial, or what we might now think of as a Women’s Hall of Fame.  Considering 300 years of history, he narrowed his list to 10 women of “great talent, ability, and strength.” He chose:  Mary Eames, Sarah Clayes, Lydia Learned, Hannah Nixon, Mary Eames Rice, Margaret Knight, Louise Mayo, Meta Warrick Fuller, Mirriam Van Waters, and Christa McAuliffe.

Come and hear Steve’s brief biographies on each of these  women presented by some of Framingham’s most inspiring women of today. In observance of Women’s History Month, we’ll add two more women from our past to Steve’s list… making it a “Daring Dozen”! We need you to send nominations—a name and a few descriptive sentences—to laura@framinghamhistory.org or call us at 508-626-9091 from now until March 6th.  Actual voting will take place  from Mar. 7th– 16th either by Facebook poll or email/call-in.
