Crystal's novel features Thrasius, the man who inspired the world's oldest cookbook-set among the upstairs/downstairs politics of a Roman family. Set in the twenty-sixth year of Augustus Caesar's reign, gourmet Marcus Gavius Apicius purchases Thrasius to serve as the culinary advisor to Caesar. Apicius truly believes that Thrasius is the key to his culinary success-and soon becomes known for his lavish parties and outstanding meals. But as Apicius gets closer to his ultimate goal, he reckless disregard for any one in his way takes a dangerous turn that threatens his family and places his entire household at the mercy of the most powerful forces in Rome!

Crystal King is an author, marketing expert and...culinary enthusiast. Her passion of food and love of history, language, and the culture of Italy is what inspires her writing. Crystal has also written a cookbook companion book for this novel entitled: A Taste of Feast of Sorrow. The recipes were inspired by Apicius!
