Have a glass of wine - or two, and enjoy the wit and whimsy of some of Worcester's greatest writers. "Benchley, Behrman, & Bishop" is a three-part performance series taking place on the fourth Thursday in June, July and August.

In the July 26 performance enjoy a witty romp through Upper West Side Manhattan, circa 1927, with selected scenes from S.N. Behrman’s play, The Second Man. The premise focuses on a writer who wants to marry a rich woman to support his lifestyle and his desire for a younger more exciting girl.   Scenes from the Play, based on the short story by W. Somerset Maugham will also be performed.  Rain centers on the clash between a missionary and a prostitute in the South Seas. Rain later became a motion picture film starring Joan Crawford.

Audiences will also be treated to the poetry of Worcester’s Stanley Kunitz, in honor of his birthday on July 29, and The Woolen Mitten Situation, an unpublished speech from 1926 by Robert Benchley.  An honor bar and hors d'oeuvres will be available.
