If another Maine regiment hadn't become so popular, the 16th Maine Regt might get more of the deserved spotlight.

The 16th Maine engaged the enemy near the Lutheran Seminary on July 1. But it was only their first day of conflict.

Col. Charles Tilden, their commander, led them at the Battle of Gettysburg was along with countless others, was missing in action.
