Pennypacker Mills is an unusually well documented historic site where you can see what it was like to live in the early 1900s. With a unique original collection, the mansion is fully furnished with antiques collected and documented by former Pennsylvania Governor Samuel W. Pennypacker reflecting his interests in early Pennsylvania history, German and Dutch settlers, Native Americans, the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. The collection also includes Governor Pennypacker’s political (1903 - 1907), genealogical and personal papers. Research by appointment.

Tours include the first two floors of the mansion, including the newly restored Servant area. Visitors are now able to see the "modern," i.e. 1900's, kitchen, indoor laundry, Cook's bedroom and Work Room and see how technology changed the lives of everyone who lived and worked here 100 years ago. Tours are FREE. The serene country estate was landscaped by Thomas Meehan and Sons to highlight the Colonial Revival mansion and surrounding farmland of 170 acres. Originally constructed about 1720, the mansion was redesigned and enlarged by architect Arthur Brockie in 1901 to enhance a country gentleman’s lifestyle.

Education programs are offered in the 1900’s History Center, located in a historic barn. Children can shop in the General Store, learn about child labor in the coal mines of Pennsylvania through hands-on activities and a lesson, and explore exhibits on transportation, schools, and everyday life. In the Classroom Building children can discover what it was like to be the cook at Pennypacker Mills. Using hand-powered kitchen gadgets, a Hoosier cabinet, and more. Visit the Children’s Heritage Garden for a guided tour to learn about heirloom vegetables, herbs and flowers that were historically grown on the property.

Pennypacker Mills is operated by the County of Montgomery, Division of Parks, Trails & Historic sites. Activities throughout the year include guided tours, exhibits, nature walks, workshops, and seasonal events. Picnic facilities are available. Large group and school tours are requested to call in advance to schedule visits. Part of the first floor of the mansion and the restrooms are handicap accessible. Pennypacker Mills is conveniently located off of Skippack Pike (Rt. 73), just 4 miles west of the Village of Skippack.

From Pennsylvania Turnpike, Northeast Extension: Take Exit 31—Lansdale. Turn right onto Rt. 63 West (Sumneytown Pike) for 5.5 miles. Turn left onto Rt. 113 for 4.1 miles. Turn right onto Rt. 73 (Skippack Pike) for 4 miles. Turn right onto Haldeman Rd. and make immediate left into entrance.

From Philadelphia via Schuylkill Expressway & Rt. 422: To King of Prussia, then take exit 328A, Rts. 202/422 west. On Rt. 422 West, exit at Collegeville/Rt. 29 North—go 7.3 miles (Rt. 29 makes a right & left turn through Collegeville). Turn right onto Rt. 73 East (Skippack Pike), cross bridge, turn left onto Haldeman Rd. Make immediate left into entrance.

From Allentown: Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike South to exit for Quakertown, Route 663 West. Take Route 29 South through Schwenksville. Turn left onto Route 73 East, cross bridge, and make an immediate left onto Haldeman Rd. Take another left into site driveway, adjacent to sign.

From State of Delaware or Airport area—Route 95: Take Route 476 North (Blue Route) 19.6 miles to Pennsylvania Turnpike North 476 (toward Allentown). Go 10 miles to Exit 31—Lansdale. Turn right onto Route 63 West for 5.5 miles. Turn left onto Route 113 for 4.1 miles. Turn right onto Route 73 West for 4 miles. Turn right onto Haldeman Rd., and then take an immediate left into the site driveway, adjacent to the sign.

From Philadelphia via Route 73: On Route 73 West, go through Skippack Village and continue 4 miles. After blinking yellow light, turn right onto Haldeman Rd. Make immediate left onto Haldeman Rd., and then take an immediate left into the site driveway, adjacent to the sign.
