According to the official website of the Stephen Hopkins House:
The 1707 home of Declaration-signer Stephen Hopkins, his family, and their slaves for four decades, on Benefit Street’s “Mile of History”, a block from Brown University, the RISD Museum, and WaterFire. This 8-room house full of antiques and Hopkins heirlooms includes the bedchamber where George Washington slept, as well as a slaves’ room and gallery currently showing a collection of 18th century samplers.
A marker on the house is inscribed:

Merchant and Shipbuilder, Ten times Governor of Rhode Island, Chief Justice of the Superior Court, Chancellor of Brown University, Member of the Colonial Congress, Signer of the Declaration of Independence, Lived in this house 1743 - 1785. Washington was here a guest April 6, 1776. This building erected at the corner of South Main Street about 1743. Was removed to its present site in 1927.
Open year-round on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Also open April through November on Saturdays from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (later on WaterFire full lightings).
Open by appointment.
