Win this signed special edition of one of 2012's most highly-acclaimed books on history

This Fourth of July, when you follow @SeeingHistory and tweet out your #SeeingHistory photo with that tag, you may win this signed special edition of "Reporting the Revolutionary War: Before It Was History, It Was News."  This is the edition with reproductions of historic papers bound that was available in a limited run when the book was first released.  The special edition was autographed by the author, Todd Andrlik, and three contributors, J.L. Bell, Robert Allison, and Don Hagist, when they spoke at the Old State House in Boston in December 2012.

Here's how to enter:

Step 1

Step 2

Tweet out a picture that shows a historic site, event, exhibit, or celebration and include the #SeeingHistory hashtag.  The deadline is Monday, July 8 at midnight (Pacific).

Why are we doing this?

Our goal is to encourage more people to take advantage of the many different places and things to do this summer that inform, celebrate, and preserve history.  Your photo and tweet are all part of that.  Thanks for helping get the word out and inspiring others.

You can find history-related events, sites, and organizations of all types and sizes here on the The History List.  These have been added by the staff, interns, volunteers, and friends of these organizations. There is no cost. And we're just getting started.  If you are with an organization or are a dedicated enthusiast, read more about adding organizations and events.  It's copy-and-paste easy.

The History List tells you not just where to go, but why and when to go.  And with you're help, more people will be #SeeingHistory!

All the details: We'll pick one photo. It will be subjective; there's no formula.  We'll take into account the subject, theme, and the number of followers and retweets.  The deadline is Monday, July 8 at midnight Pacific. You can select a photo you take now, or one you took some time ago. Whichever you choose, it should represent some form of #SeeingHistory and could be from a historic site, reenactment, exhibit, tour, or other site or event that pictures #SeeingHistory. Include the subject of your photo, if you have the room. We'lll pick one and DM the winner Tuesday to let them know and get his or her mailing address. Note that you must own the photos and have all rights to it. By Tweeting our your photo, you agree that, if selected, we can feature your photo, first name, and state on the Facebook pages and websites for Seeing History (Facebook), The History List  (Facebook), and Roadsie (Facebook).
