Wood River Heritage Council sponsors the annual event, held on a 28-acre site located northeast of the intersection of Illinois Routes 3 and 143. The site borders a small lake and includes a replica fort of Lewis and Clark’s Camp DuBois, the famed encampment where the Corps of Discovery spent the winter during 1803-1804 before the westward trek.Camp DuBois also serves as headquarters for the 1st Regiment of the Illinois Territory Rangers, a military re-enactment group that celebrates the War of 1812. Parking will be available at the site.
