The Gilpin Historical Society operates four museums in Central City, Colorado.  The Gilpin History Museum at 228 E. 1st High St. displays examine many aspects of life in Gilpin County, from mining to businesses to society.  The museum also has special exhibits each summer.  The museum is open Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day, Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The rest of the year is by appointment.  Our Tour Office, at 117 Eureka St., offers tours of the historical Teller House Hotel (built in 1872), the Central City Opera House (built in 1878), and the Thomas House (built in 1867 and owned by the same family from 1895 to 1987).  The hours of the Tour Office are Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Check our website for more details on our locations and events.
