Works on Paper

Printed paper served a critical educational, informational, and political role as broadsides, pamphlets, books, and newspapers carried important text throughout the community. Carl Darrow will demonstrate the operation of our reproduction printing press, and visitors will take away a card printed with a holiday message. On the decorative side, paper marbling is a technique used for centuries to add a beautiful and colorful finish to bound books. Regina and Dan St. John will demonstrate this art form and its many historic and contemporary applications. Sales of the marbled paper and fabric items are available at the Museum Gift Shop and Bookstore along with additional holiday cards and gift items.
