What Cheer Wednesdays Bring You Behind the Scenes!
Free museum admission and pop-up programming
at John Brown House Museum & Museum of Work & Culture
Every Wednesday Sept. 30 through Dec. 23

RIHS’s “What Cheer Wednesdays,” is an experimental program with a pop-up sensibility featuring rotating weekly offerings, as well as chats with curators, docents, and educational staff – all intended to give visitors a unique look at a day in the life of a museum. What Cheer Wednesdays feature free admission at both the Museum of Work & Culture and the John Brown House Museum on Wednesdays September 30 – December 23, 2015.

Go behind the scenes at the John Brown House Museum and talk with collections staff as they work on interpretation or ask them the process behind curating exhibits.

At the Museum of Work & Culture, volunteers will help collect the public’s photos, memorabilia and artifacts from anyone who attended a Catholic School in RI. The volunteers who work on the Museum’s Catholic Schools Archive will be available to work and meet with the public, every Wednesday afternoon 1-4 pm.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to invite visitors who have attended Catholic schools to bring in the following items:

  • Individual photos, class photos, snapshots, yearbook pictures etc.
  • Memorabilia such as report cards, first communion and confirmation certificates
  • A one-page composition recalling your school days

Lois Peloquin, Caroline Faubert and Al Brunelle will be on hand to engage visitors every Wednesday afternoon and will be ready to accept their donations of photos and Catholic schools memorabilia and artifacts. The Museum is collecting information from all RI catholic schools, from Woonsocket to Westerly!

What Cheer Wednesdays will be held on the following dates: October 14, 21 and 28, November 4, 11, 18, 25, andDecember 2, 9, 16, and 23. For more information, contact programs@rihs.org or call 401-331-8575, x136.
