Transportation Then and Now: African American Contributions to the Rail Industry
Minnesota History Center, St. Paul MN
Dates: Feb. 13, 2013
Time: 11:30 a.m.
In honor of Black History Month, the Minnesota History Center celebrates African Americans and their contributions to the railroad industry, looking at the railroad experience from the perspective of the Pullman Porters, wait staff and mail bag grabbers whose occupations helped to spur the black middle class of St. Paul known as the Rondo Community. The program will examine how the contributions of unsung heroes of yesterday helped to forge advantages for today’s industry. Presented by the Minnesota History Center and the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
