The Past, Present, and Future of Louisville's Landmark: Cave Hill Cemetery

During this program, participants will be walked through the history of Cave Hill Cemetery, its residents, monumental art, as well as the horticultural highlights that make the cemetery one of the most iconic symbols in the city of Louisville. Participants will also review the Cave Hill Heritage Foundation and how this organization is paving the way for the preservation of the past for the future through its efforts of Restoring the monuments and historic structures, Preserving the arboretum setting, and providing Educational Development for the community at-large.

 

 

 

Michael Higgs is the Foundation Coordinator for the Cave Hill Heritage Foundation and a public relations representative for Cave Hill Cemetery. He has worked for Cave Hill for 13 years. He manages resource development and the fulfillment of the Foundation's three focus areas- the Restoration of historic buildings, monuments, and structures throughout Cave Hill Cemetery, the Preservation of the arboretum setting, and development of Educational Programs for the community at-large. He is a graduate of Bellarmine University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Indiana Wesleyan University, where he obtained a Master of Science in Management. Mr. Higgs also serves as an Adjunct for Jefferson Community and Technical College System.
