The Gathering at Garst

2017 Marks the 7th year we have Celebrated Our History...Learn More about our amazing Summer Event!

Annie Oakley called this place home and she was not alone. Famed broadcaster, Lowell Thomas and dirigible pilot, Lieutenant Commander Zachary Lansdowne also made their mark in history and came from Darke County.  These stories along with new ones will be shared with visitors during The Gathering at Garst Museum on July 25 and 26. 

What is the definition of a hero?  The dictionary says a hero is a champion, conqueror, and brave among other things.   The dictionary say the word legendary describes someone who is famous, great, and celebrated.  Certainly many of Darke County’s heroes and legendary citizens can be described in this way.  The Gathering at Garst is celebrating Darke County’s famous sons and daughers who left a legacy that we continue to honor and pass on to future generations.  Their stories of skill, bravery, and sacrifice are still relevant and interesting today.  Let’s remember them.
