The Expansive Everyday: Creating Shared Spaces for Inclusive Histories- a Talk by Elisa Hamilton part of a series organized by the Graduate Certificate Program in Public History at SSU, "Confronting History: Public Historians and Artists Reckon with the Past"

In an era marked by division and polarization, the personal has become increasingly political.  Boston-based Elisa H. Hamilton, a multimedia artist, will share her work sharing life histories and community stories and discuss the process and purpose behind it.  Hamilton creates inclusive artworks, which emphasize shared spaces and the hopeful examination of our everyday places, objects, and experiences. Hamilton, whose work bridges the distance between private and public, intimate and shared, will talk about inviting individuals to share their stories, and will discuss the ways in which her work employs individual narration as an approach to building empathy and igniting cycles of generosity.

This event is free and open to the public.   Refreshments will be served.  For more information, contact Margo Shea at mshea@salemstate.edu.
