In 1897 twenty-one Bostonians founded a Society of Arts and Crafts, an organization that was at the forefront of Boston's Arts and Crafts movement. In New England the structures that came out of this movement are admired today for their quiet beauty and exquisite detail. Architectural historian Dr. Maureen Meister explores the building designs, historical inspirations, and emphasis on craftsmanship that the Society promoted. Lecture in Carriage House at 2:00 p.m. followed by an optional tour of the Codman House museum at 3 p.m.
