Mark Matthews, Arlee writer, historian, dance caller/instructor, and officer with the Missoula Folklore Society, will present Swinging through History: Social Dance in America. Matthews will explore the major movements of social dance in the United States—from pre-European contact to the death of disco in the 1990s—examining such topics as cakewalks, jitterbug, tap, and powwows.
