Updated December 7, 2013: Saturday with Santa, which was planned today (Dec. 7) at the Kentucky Historical Society's Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History in downtown Frankfort, has been canceled due to inclement weather. The KHS campus (including the Clark Center, the Old State Capitol and the Kentucky Military  History Museum, are all closed today to the public.

 


The Kentucky Historical Society and Downtown Frankfort, Inc. will host Saturday with Santa from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec.7, at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History in downtown Frankfort. 


The KHS history campus will be free and open to the public all day Dec. 7, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., with Santa arriving at 11 a.m. following the annual Frankfort Jaycees Christmas Parade.

Bring your own camera and have your picture taken with the jolly old elf!  Children and families are invited to decorate their own salt-dough ornament to place on the tree at home.  Enjoy light refreshments and decorate sugar cookies with holiday sprinkles.  Visitors may explore the exhibition “A Kentucky Journey” and tour the Old State Capitol at 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m. or 3 p.m., and visit the Kentucky Military History Museum.  

For one day only, the Stewart Home School 1792 Store will offer 30% off all regular-priced holiday decorations.  And if you’re looking for that special gift the store offers a wide selection of books, Kentucky crafts and other specialty items.

This is a "pay what you can" event! Admission is free, but any donations received will go straight to the KHS Annual Fund, providing programs such as the Kentucky Junior Historical Society, National History Day in Kentucky, Camp ArtyFact and services that impact students across the commonwealth.
