Shoes are storytellers — through their materials, style, function, and owners. Join UNH professor Kimberly Alexander as she talks about The Fashion and History of Shoes: Exploring History Through Footwear.

The Society will concurrently present a selection of shoes from the museum’s collection, ranging from red brocade wedding slippers from 1747 to high-heel pumps with silver bead trim from the 1920s, children’s shoes, and men’s and women’s work shoes.

Alexander is the author of Treasures Afoot: Shoe Stories from the Georgian Era (2018).
The lecture will be held at the Dedham Historical Society & Museum, 612 High Street, Dedham. For information, call DHSM at 781.326.1385 or visit www.dedhamhistorical.org. Street parking is available; a free public lot is two blocks away (www.dedhamsquarecircle.org/directions).

DHSM thanks David G. Newsom for sponsoring the lecture series.
