See You in Class - Jamestown Archaeology
By Robert Dunkerly
February 14 and 28, 2013 | Time: 10–11:30 am
Until 1995 the site of the English colony at Jamestown was thought to have been lost forever. Since then, archaeology and new research has shed light on daily life of the colonists and the Powhatan Indians. This course will explore the history of Jamestown's settlement, previous archaeology, and the most recent excavations. We will focus on the discoveries that have added to our understanding of the colony and those who lived there. Robert Dunkerly, a park ranger at Richmond National Battlefield Park, has written widely on military history and is active in historic preservation. He worked for two years at Jamestown and other archaeological sites in the area.
