"When Rachmaninoff Played Tacoma: Music at the Tacoma Theater"

Before it was lost to fire in the 1960's, and before it was a favorite destination of movie audiences as the Music Box in the 1940's and 50's, the Tacoma Theater was designed to be a great hall for performance, with the "largest stage on the Pacific Coast." The venue drew many distinguished performers to the City of Destiny, including, in February of 1925, the great Russian composer and pianist Sergei Rachmaninoff.
