Royall House and Slave Quarters Guided Tour

    Improve listing Presented by

Explore the home of the largest slaveholding family in the Massachusetts colony, and the enslaved Africans who made their lavish lifestyle possible.  Architecture, household items, and archaeological artifacts bear witness to the intertwined stories of wealth and bondage, set against the backdrop of America’s quest for independence.  The Slave Quarters is the only remaining such structure in the northern United States, and the Royall House is among the finest eighteenth-century buildings in New England.

National Historic Landmark, built 1732-1737.

The Royall House and Slave Quarters museum is open for regular guided tours on Saturdays and Sundays from May 18th through October 27th, 2019. Tours take place on the hour at 1, 2, and 3 p.m.  Please note there will be no regular 1 p.m. tour on Saturday, June 8th.

For inquiries about tours, email Executive Director Tom Lincoln at director@royallhouse.org.  Special group tours may also be arranged for groups of ten or more people.
