For decades, compilations of French-Canadian genealogy focused on Catholic marriages.  Recently, compilations of baptisms and burials have appeared.  But what if you’re looking for a Protestant event and it’s not indexed on standard genealogy sites?  Are there strategies for identifying children born out of wedlock, where the parents’ names are always “undeclared”?  After you review a family and find there are unmarried children and you suspect they joined a religious order, where can you look?

After a brief review of useful genealogy databases, examples of Protestant records, identifying children with the last name “Inconnu/Inconnue”, and an introduction to a religious order database will be presented.  A bientôt!
