Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Field Trip

As part of the Brick Store Museum-Kennebunk Free Library's OUR SHARED HiSTORY programming, we invite you to join the Museum on a tour of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, an active naval base, to learn about modern-day shipbuilding.

Meet at the Museum to board the bus bound for this active naval base in Kittery. Upon arrival, hear about the shipyard's 200-year history from Gary Hildreth, a retired U.S. Navy Submariner. After lunch in the base's tavern, take a look at the shipyard as you have never seen it before!

This program requires registration at least one week prior to the field trip due to security. Please register for this event by NO LATER than Saturday, June 15.

Tickets for this field trip need to be purchased at least one week in advance. Please visit the Brick Store Museum's website to find prices for tickets!

Not suitable for wheelchair users, as the tour requires movement on and off the Shipyard's tour bus.

Directions/Transportation/Parking

We are located at 117 Main Street, Kennebunk, Maine 04043.

From I-95/Maine Turnpike: Take Exit 25. Make a left and proceed East on Route 35 toward Kennebunk and Kennebunkport. At the junction of Route 35 and Route 1, the Museum is directly across the street from the traffic light.

From Route 1: The Museum is on Route 1, approximately halfway between Portsmouth, NH and Portland, ME. Route 1 is Main Street in Kennebunk. If traveling northbound, the Museum is on the right; if traveling southbound, the Museum is on the left.

Free, curbside parking is available on Main Street, including several spots located directly in front of the Museum. Additional parking can be found on side streets surrounding the Museum, and in marked public lots off of Main Street, within easy walking distance of the Museum.
