Now on exhibit at the Cohasset Historical Society, Painting Cohasset: 90 Summers.
Artists have been coming to Cohasset for its scenic beauty since the mid-19th century. Celebrating 90 years of Cohasset summers, from 1850 to 1940, this spectacular show of 45 paintings and watercolors includes Hudson River School and Luminist artists like Winckworth Allan Gay, Frank Henry Shapleigh, Alfred Thompson Bricher, and the Post-Impressionist Maurice Prendergast. Adding to the Society’s collection are generous loans from galleries, private collectors and the Williams College Museum of Art. A number of these paintings have never been shown to the public before.
