“Ava Helen Pauling: Partner, Activist, Visionary”
Presented by Mina Carson

Join Mina Carson, Associate Professor of American Social and Cultural History at Oregon State University, for a lecture on activist Ava Helen Pauling. In her 2013 biography, Carson shares the untold history of the Oregonian who married future Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling, and became not only a homemaker but a partner in his work as well as a leading political activist for women’s rights, racial equality, and world peace.

Each month, the Oregon Encyclopedia hosts History Nights at McMenamins Pubs in Portland, Troutdale, and Bend. At each History Night, the OE looks back at the people and events that have shaped our communities.  History Nights are sponsored by the Oregon Historical Society and the Des Chutes Historical Museum.
