The National History Day Western regional event will bring together young historians from the area to share their historical research. This event is one of seven regional events in the National History Day competitive cycle. Participants, students in grades 6-12, have worked for months on their own research projects connected to the program's annual theme, "Rights and Responsibilities in History." To share their conclusions, participants have created museum-style exhibits, interactive websites, research papers, media documentaries and dramatic performances. Students will share their research with judges as they compete for prizes and the opportunity to advance to the state event. Participating students must register by February 14. Presentations are open to the public, and interested educators are encouraged to attend. The National History Day state event will take place on Saturday, May 3.
