Marlborough: Solider and Diplomat

Naval War College professor John Hattendorf will talk about his latest book entitled Marlborough: Soldier and Diplomat. Hattendorf organized this richly illustrated volume of essays about the great British general, John Churchill, the first Duke of Marlborough (1650-1722), who led the British Army in the War of The Spanish Succession (Queen Anne's War). The famous ancestor of Sir Winston Churchill, Marlborough is remembered in Newport in Marlborough Street and by a number of connections to his descendants in Newport.
