Lecture: First Pies Of New England

    Improve listing Presented by

Baked goods—bread, pies, and cakes of all sorts—were a major part of the European diet in the seventeenth century. Focusing on the territory that would be claimed by Plymouth Colony, food historian Paula Marcoux will dissect how the earliest European colonizers solved the problem of how to build wood-fired ovens far from home. Her discussion is founded on a wide range of historic resources as well as results from her own experimental archaeology projects. Recipes for relevant French and English pastries will be furnished in hopes that attendees will add some historic local color to their holiday baking.

We will welcome our speaker in person to the Museum! Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. Or, watch from home on Zoom! We’ll take questions from both our in-person and at-home audiences! Register at oldcolonyhistorymuseum.eventbrite.com
