History Lounge: Toy Stories
Pet Rocks, Barbies, Daisy Air Rifles, Rotate-0-Matic Super Astronauts, Cootie and Weebles. Whether well-known or obscure, the toys and games of the 1950s, 60s and 70s spark childhood memories. They also reflect a history of changing times and evolving ideas about being a kid in 20th century America. Join historian and Minnesota Historical Society Senior Exhibit Developer Kate Roberts for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at some of the best toy stories from the History Center Museum’s newest exhibition, “Toys of the 50s, 60s and 70s.” This event is made possible by the Legacy Amendment's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, through the vote of Minnesotans on Nov. 4, 2008.
