"The Civilian Conservation Corps," a PBS American Experience documentary, details the first weeks of President Franklin Roosevelt's first term in office when he sent legislation to Congress aimed at providing relief for unemployed Americans. The legislation created the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) which provided work for millions of young men through planting trees, fighting fires, and maintaining roads and trails, making it one of the boldest and most admired New Deal experiments.
