History Book Club Meeting

Join the book club in reading and discussing A Short History of Reconstruction, by Eric Foner.  A historian at Columbia University, Foner is a recognized expert on the Civil War, slavery, and Reconstruction. In 1988, he wrote Reconstruction: America’s Unfinished Revolution 1863-1877, which has been described as ”monumental” and is generally considered the final word on the subject of Reconstruction.  Foner’s book won the Bancroft Prize, the Francis Parkman Prize, and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, among others.  In 1990, Foner abridged his earlier work to become A Short History of Reconstruction. Anyone who wishes to read the earlier work for this meeting is more than welcome to do so.

At the Jackson Homestead and Museum, 527 Washington Street.
