Gordon Ware: A Voice of the “Lost Generation”

Presented by Stacen Goldman

In the early fall of 2017, while developing the upcoming World War I exhibition, Framingham History Center Curator Stacen Goldman discovered the unfinished, unpublished manuscript of Gordon Ware, a Framingham resident and volunteer ambulance driver during the Great War. Both funny and poignant, Ware’s writing offers insight into service on World War I’s “Forgotten Front” in the Balkans—a place where virtually no American service men set foot. Join Stacen as she discusses finding Ware’s manuscript in the FHC Collections, the impact it had on developing the World War I exhibition, and Gordon’s story itself. Her talk will be presented alongside exclusive photographs and readings from this unfinished work of Framingham’s own “Lost Generation” voice.

Tickets are $5/FHC member and $10/non-member. Purchase tickets at framinghamhistory.org or mail checks to FHC P.O. Box 2032, Framingham, MA 01703. Questions? Call 508-626-9091.
