Seek out a new go-to brew and learn about Saint Paul’s hoppy past with Doug Hoverson, author of “Land of Amber Waters.” This meandering three hour bus tour features samples, conversation and hidden gems along the way. New breweries springing up around St. Paul are a powerful testament to today’s fascination with the sudsy stuff. But St. Paul’s first brewery opened in 1849 by German immigrant Anthony Yoerg. Today, remnants of St. Paul’s historic brewing past include the imposing old Hamm’s and Schmidt breweries.

For ages 21 and up only. Tours start and end at the Minnesota History Center and include up to four blocks of walking on uneven terrain. Please alert staff if you need alternative accommodations.
