Food for Thought — Madame Butterfly’s World: Woodblock Prints of a Changing Japan

    Improve listing Presented by

Inspired by Glimmerglass Festival’s 2014 production of Madame Butterfly, this exhibition of Japanese woodblock prints highlights the changing world in which Butterfly lived. The collection features prints that represent “traditional” Japan, as well as those showing the influence of Western culture. Guest curator Dr. Jacqueline Atkins has written and lectured extensively on Japanese early modern textiles and kimono, and Japanese prints.
