Old-fashioned fire fighting
See an exciting demonstration of historical 19th-century hand-pump fire trucks, and lend a hand by helping to pump the water. Enjoy a fire truck parade around the Common, including historic motorized fire trucks.

We will also host Massachusetts' premier Fire Explorer Scout Muster, providing the opportunity for teams of scouts to compete in several events. Visitors will also have the chance to compete in the same events!

19th-century ice Bucket brigade cream
For ice, cool off with demonstrations of 18th- and 19th-century ice-cream making (using period tools, techniques, recipes, and ingredients). Popular flavors in the 18th century included gooseberry, ginger, and even asparagus ice cream.
